Thats nothing - my IP Jane can easily do 150mph on a thimble full of water - if I'm not careful with the regulator!!
It does look like a pretty spectacular vehicle though! Good luck to them and I for one hope they do the 200! |

I find it curious that the steam land speed record is only roughly 2 mph more than the steam record for railway traction (I am allowing for the slight discrepency that many feel there is in Mallards data readouts) _________________ burning fingers since 1989! |

That is interesting indeed!
I know that the stanley steamer can break 100, so you have to think with todays technology, it has to be possible, especially using a turbine. Its just all that troublesome water...... _________________ Keep Creativity Alive! |

While the official steam record may be 128 mph, the bullet shaped Stanley was unofficially clocked at 191 mph on Daytona Beach where it suffered a horrific crash before it could turn and complete the necessary return run. So yes, the 128 mph is official but it was not anywhere close to what the car was capable of. I would think with today's tech, 200 plus should not be too difficult.

I never thought about crashing a steam engine. Fire and steam not a good combination. _________________ Best Regards, Ranger Moore |
