|
|
A while ago I bought a MM2 off ebay that was in good condition for it's age (I'm pretty sure it's late 50's - early 60's, correct me if I'm wrong) but thought it could do with a clean:
Now I'm doing things other than Sovereign for a while, I got the polish and solder out
After a couple of evenings work I now have this:
The boiler still had laquer on it but was patchy and discoloured (most of it hidden in the first pic for photogenic reasons
Still unsure whether to repaint the base and firebox, there are a few rust spots but not as many you would expect for such an engine with no box.
It used to jam so I had also highly polished the Piston and inside of the cylinder to a mirror shine. Hopefully this will solve the jamming issue without more drastic action. I'll light her up soon and see if it worked!
Not much of a difference, but a good start I feel for my restorative skills on stationaries
The two SE1's I have will be more of a challenge (one requires boiler work ) _________________ Worrying the populace since '82' |

I think it looks great the way it is. Good Job!
Are you going to have to remove an endcap on one of your other ones? If so, Good Luck! |
