Well, sort of!
Another LiNEy Machines creation that is just plane fun to run...will upload video in a few moments.
Engine is LiNEy's Thimble (my third)...only this time it sits on a pedestal pushing a model airplane prop. Video really shows how this can turn some rpms. Runs well on steam or air, but more rpms on steam IMO.

The last picture gives a really good view of the way the engine works. I can see the cylinder lifting up to let the steam out.

Mirko, I tried to remove the piston for a better photo, but thought I might bugger it up, so let it be. I did get a couple of very close photos though, one with a slip of paper BEHIND the piston so you can see the gap that occurs when the piston rocks just enough in the cylinder to let steam exhaust.
One key point...unlike many engines where the piston stays in the same orientation as the cylinder and the con-rod pivots...on this design the con-rod and piston are all machined of one piece of stainless steel and piston itself is very thin...perhaps 2 mm and edge of piston is slightly rounded so it will rock smoothly.
Hope the pictures explain it better.

Went on their website but couldn't find that engine.
They have some exquisite miniatures, (five cylinder radials, etc), but I didn't find that one.
Was $75 the assembled price? Nothing on the website was even close to that. Everything on E Bay was a kit.
Love your video commentaries. Maybe we should try that. Andrew and I could do a steam version of the 'click and clack' auto routine.
On my own I think I would run out of things to say halfway through.

Richard, the various finished pieces seem to show up at random moments on Liney's website, though the Thimble has been made in numbers and I thought the prop version was as well. It was definitely $75 for that one.

What a unique concept Rog.
I wonder though about the life of the cylinder as the rocking motion might put a lot of stress on on part of it as it rocks back into position.
Just an old engineer pondering.

Sandy, you make a good point about wear potential. That may be the reason Liney added the SS cylinder liner to the power plant version. I probably have several hours of running time on the original Thimble without the cylinder liner and it still seems to operate the same as when I got it....after 10-20 hours it might be a different story!
