My Dad lived on a boat when young,
no surprise that he is boat mad
here I will gradually show our boats, some steam many not, but many could be.
Bowman boats
All 3 from new
Sadly the paint began to craze within a year of buying them, so they went back to the retaillers.
When returned no name decals were left,
but the paint wasnt crackled.
Then that paint started coming off in the 1970s,
finally when my Dads car was being repaired he asked the paint
shop to do the boats as well.
So not original paint, but an original story.
No box for Sprite, but the other 2 are there.
Only Eagle left to go in this series of boats.

Thanks Guys-
Les, yes I steamed Sprite ( the middle sized of the 3, Eagle is the second largest) at STIA.
I would have steamed them all there but the day went so fast.
I really would have liked to steam my Seahawk with Rocdocs one at the same time-
Perhaps next year Pete?
Sandmans DVD does feature Sprite.
I have asked Chas for Decals, but he cant come up with them. Someone at STIA advised me of a motorbike website that does good decals, but stupidly i didnt write it down.
Tom, the middle one is Seahawk its a twin cylinder.
Sorry me dads still alive but either way I think they would be the last engines to go, im really attached to them.
Logoman- the boats go just up to the coloured paintwork in the water. They do teavel very fast |

... I was only kidding, mate. I didn't expect that they were for sale, true treasures as they are.
An impressive fleet! The hulls are made of wood? _________________ Says Tom

Heres Swallow and her box. I love the simple elgance of Bowman boxes.
Seahawk is based on the Bowman twin cylinder M140 engine I believe.
It goes really fast.
I will do a better close up later.
Meanwhile a side on view
And an engine view of Swallow

Yes Tom, in fact there is a knot visible under the paint in this pic
I thought pine wood, but my Dad thought they are birch wood

Heres one Ive been meaning to post for ages.
I believe its a Schoenner, and There is a pic of it
Or rather how it should look on a website Tmuir often points out
Boiler is a lovely small one
and small oscillating engine
Even the burner is present
But not much of the paintwork is
This looks more like a tin can stuck on, not original
The steering has a nice locking system

Incredible, have you any idea of its age and is it in a steam worthy condition?? _________________ Les - Nolo Servile Capistrum

I think its about 1900 or so Les.
I have been a bit wary at sailing her
Theres no SV.
But having used an SEL with no SV without probs I will give it a go.
She does sit OK in the water,
but the excess solder on top could cause a capsize |
