About 10 day ago I showed my recently purchased Parken engine, although it was unused unfortunately it had spent most of it's life near the sea and had some rust problems and major tarnishing to the brass fittings & boiler. I wasn't able to match the current colour with anything remotely similar from anyone's high temperature paint range so have only treated the rust with rust disolver and have left the paint as it is.

The original engine, note the heavy tarnishing to the boiler area, particularly the end cap.

The same view after cleaning & polishing, the tarnishing on the end cap was extremely difficult to remove and has left the end cap with a rose gold tinge. It seems that the some zinc was converted in the process leaving a more coppery colour.

Cheers

Chris

Chris, for a non-repaint...that really cleaned up quite well. Interesting little engine, never saw one before...OK...never HEARD of a Parken before, but looks a stout little setup.

Bet your brass polishing arm could use a rest!!!

That came up real well and with carefull treatment won't ever need a repaint now.

Now you need a Steamco to go with it.

A steamco would be nice, but I've got a horizontal Scorpion to win yet and have just realized I will be away when it finishes so will have to put an advanced bid in.

Cheers

Chris

Chris, that has come up so well, I'm glad you couldn't find a paint match. It still has a slight played with / aged feel and that is just the way I like them. Another brill addition to your collection.
