Hi all , when my new 1927 Bing dredge arrived , it was apparent that it needed a soldering repair , so i carefully scraped some paint off where the heat would be applied , and applied some liquid acid based solering flux , i then did the soldering job without any problems , it turned out a real good job . I then had to wash the flux off with water , while doing this i had a little play , turning the pulley by hand , and quickly realised it dredges water very well .
Anyway , i then used compressed air then a hairdrier to dry it to enable repaintinting the affected area , i didn`t have the appropriate cream color , so i used white as a tempory measure .
Anyway the washing proceedure inspired this .

Geoff, that was a delightful video.  I have never seen one of those dredges in action, let alone moving red water and finally bubbly!!!

I found the trick with these types of toy is to run them slow otherwise they do not have a chance to pick up the water, I loved the video including the bloopers.

That really is a lovely dredge!    Beautifully powered by the Wilesco & pulleys. Looked as though it was dredging red wine at first until all the bubbles appeared - rather too many to count as pink champagne but great fun to watch!
To imitate ochre in my dredge for STWWW I used Taboulet coloured with Turmeric but couldn't get it to start slowly, chucking the stuff everywhere!    Then I forgot to empty it before leaving for UK & found mice had eaten it all upon my return - they sure ingurgitated a hefty overdose of Turmeric!

A great dredge. Another to add to your fine array of driven models.
