Here is the Bowman M140 I bought at the Belper steam fair that needs a bit of restoration work. The only thing missing is the steam dome so I will need to re solder one back on that I've got spare and then it should hopefully work. Here are some before pics:

Steely,

Except for the steam dome and oiler taps (easily found)...that looks in great shape and should clean up beautifully.

How did you ever find a spare Bowman "steam dome"? I should think such a thing would be rarer than hens teeth!!

I just happened to have bought a box of bowman spares on ebay a while ago and it seems as though it will fit. Also I was wondering, did the M140 always have a chimney?

Steely, yes, the M140 was shipped with a chimney. The oilers were optional.

Steely, I bought a pair of replacement brass Bowman oilers from Chasteam (Paper and Steam Galore)...they were a bit pricey as I recall. Others may offer some additional sources, I even think one of our members can turn them on a lathe.

Great! As a temporary measure would a control valve from a SE3 for example fit as an oiler tap do you think?

You can make oiler taps without a lathe. You just need an electric drill and soms small files. Here's how I did it...

Steely. I completely forgot about those dimensions.

Sorry mate.

Looks like you've got a dome anyway.

I stuck a Mamod bolt through one once, seemed to work really well

Apparently you've got a rare version there, Steely. Just needs a couple of
oiler taps and a chimney. In very nice original condition, too. One to be proud of!
