Hi all.
This morning I had a second fan fail on my motherboard.
This one I could not replace so I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade.
$700 later I have a new MB, 3 Gig processor new ram, new GeForce 7600GT PCI express grapjics card and a new dual layer DVD burner.
I decided not to buy a new HD today and I'm regretting that now.
To cut a long story short I used have my PC dual boot so I could run windows and linux.
With all the hardware upgrades thr bootloader I use (grub) is now buggered and only boots into linux console.
I can not remember enough to fix the problem at the moment so have reinstalled windows onto an old 20 gig HD so I can have internet access and will buy a new SATA 250 gig HD next week, do a fresh install of windows on it and copy all my files off my old HD onto it.

So what this means I may not be on much on Monday or Tuesday night as I will be busy rebuilding my computer, I havent gone just fixing my PC.

It would if I added another 1 gig to take memory to 2 gig but I'll think I'll hold off until they release service pack 1 edition as its bound to be full of bugs.

Now I have net access again I've managed to do a search for a solution and I think I have found it.
Shutting down installing my original drive and going to try the fix.
If I'm not back within the next 30 to 40 minutes you know the fix failed.

I could run good games before but MB was shot and my CPU wouldn't plug into the new MB so went for an upgrade.
I'm obviously running again with my main HD.
Fixed master boot record problem but Windoze died as I had changed too much hardware.
Tried to repair install but as I've upgraded to SP2 repair failed. So I have had to do a second install of windows onto same HD.
Up and running again but most of my SW isn't. Think I will still buy a new HD and freshly install everything. But atleast I'm still on the web and have access to all my photos and files.

My brother has vista on his laptop, before it came out (his freind's dad works at microsoft and got him a copy) and it is completely bug free, nothing wrong with it.

I use a liquid cooled MAC G5 in work - very efficient cooling system, mind you it has 9 fans to keep everything just right . . .
