A couple of nights ago I had a little car crash.  I was driving the family home from Boston (that's the original Boston in Lincolnshire) along a very straight road.  Round those parts the roads have no street lights at all ... it was very black.  Doing about 50mph when suddenly two animals walked straight infront of the car.  I thought they were pigs but could have been deer ... anyway, the front of the car was smashed in - see photo.  Luckily, no one was hurt, only shaken up a little bit.   The insurance company is on the case.  The car (which happens to be my wifes car) might be a write-off given the damage to the front end.

Went back the next morning to try and identify the road kill and guess what ... couldn't find any sign of anything ... no pigs, deer ...nothing ... only the broken remains of the car body work.

It's a bit spooky ...

Pete

Your family wasn't hurt, nothing else matters!
Cars are easily replaceable.
Are there wild boars in the area?
They can take a tremendous hit and walk away from it.

THe only Boars around here are found at Office Christmas Parties   I see some terrible Deer accidents on a regular basis though, I saw one total a car, but it got up and ran off. I bet they often die shortly later from internal injuries.

No wild boars in Lincolnshire ... at least I don't think so.  I think these little pigs may have escaped from a farm or small holding.  Yep, there was no sign of them the next day ... no blood, fur ... nothing.

I feel your pain.

Back when my wife and I were DINKs (Dual income, no children) I bought a new Lincoln LS.

Six weeks later I had a run-in with 2 deer that wiped out every panel on the passenger side of the car.  It was never quite right again...

Glad no one got hurt.

Pete, glad you are OK...but looking at that car makes me have to ask...where is the engine?  I see a radiator, but it's either a rear powered vehicle or an exceptionally slimline power plant!!!

By the way, I grew up 40 miles from the OTHER Boston...didn't know it's namesake was from Lincolnshire.
