There is a code here in Australia on products that supports terrorists!!!!!

Have you ever seen this symbol on your food products?

The LHS symbol is that of the - HALAL CERTIFICATION AUTHORITY - AUSTRALIA

This is a Muslim Association that collects money from the Australian Food Industry for this symbol so that Muslims will purchase the product. Yet we are told the Muslim population are only one and a half percent of Australia's total!

On a recent radio talk-back show a well known  host was alerted to this practice. He hit a stone wall when trying to find out HOW MUCH money was paid to this organization and WHERE the money went.

It was explained that by buying those marked products at least you are supporting a religion that is actively trying to destroy the Australian way of life or at the other extreme the money MAY be supporting terrorism

Many Australian Companies are paying this money including BEGA, CADBURY and many other well known companies.  Check before you buy.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE THAT MONEY IS GOING?

I will leave this post for the moment, but I have to say I'm not comfortable with it.

These are very emotive issues that I don't think should be discussed here.

We all have our views, and that's OK, but this is a truly international forum, and some subjects are better left off the agenda.

Geez BK, I don't like the sound of that at all, maybe a boycott of all products carrying the logo---

Edit
I've emailed Cadbury to ask how the logo is funded

BK that first statement is making a big jump to a conclusion.
For the record neither myself or the forum agrees with this view in your first sentence.

I know many people that eat Halal food and I can promise you they are all decent people.
I see no difference to this logo than other food saying it is safe for vegans to eat.

This forum is not a place for religious or political discussions.

Every person here is entitled to their own views but can I ask that this topic be left to drop.

That symbol means that it is safe to eat by conforming to certain religious requirements, it is no more terroristic than Kosher products are, Kosher means approved by Jewish standards. IF your religion had restrictions and you could not know if you could consume a product, you would appreciate an easy to read symbol that tells you it is OK.
Remember that all Muslims are not terrorists, many that I have know were peace loving people that preached tolerance.
There again I know some area people around here that think I am a member of a Cult and not Christian because I am a Quaker. Extremists in any faith are bad, there are some "Christians" that stand for nothing that was taught by Jesus but instead push for Hate, IMHO they are terrorists too.

"Halal" is an Arabic word that means "permitted or lawful". Halal foods are foods that are permitted under Islamic dietary guidelines that were taken from the Islamic Holy Book, the Koran. Thus, practising Muslims must avoid foods that are not Halal and the Halal certification system is designed to help them make appropriate food choices.

This is a plain appeal to prejudice and stereotypes.

with terrorism is both childish and idiotic. While current high-profile terrorist groups may be Islamic, this does not mean that all Islamic groups and companies are funding terrorism.

It is possible that an Islamic association may be supporting terrorism, but it is by no means an assumption one can freely make with no evidence whatsoever.

It is possible that I may be funding terrorism, but it would be very strange for someone to accuse me without any evidence.

This reaction is similar to seeing an Islamic person on the street, behaving perfectly innocently, and thinking “they might be a terrorist!”.

I can safely say that this is not the place

I went to a book store and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

On the flip side - I used to get terrible hangovers before they warned you on the beer cans to drink responsibly.

There again, things like this need to be put out in the open as it is NOT a terrorism group but there are those who tell that it is only to stir up prejudice. We need to be educated as to what the truth is. That is how we learn.
There are some American TV and radio personalities that are just as bad or worse, and as their shows gain popularity so does hate and prejudice. It is sad that we can not trust what we see and hear on so called "News" programs, not fair and balanced at all.

0 to 200 in 6 seconds
Bob was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was
really p***d.

She told him "Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the
driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 6 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE !!"

The next morning he got up early and left for work. When his wife woke
up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box
gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought
the box back in the house.

She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Bob has been missing since Friday.

The mere fact that there are fees collected and turned over to muslims certainly
does not mean that these funds fund terrorism.  However a question as to
where these funds are directed is certainly in order. If anyone finds an answer please let us know.

My best guess is it's innocent.

By the way while I think this is all innocent, I do hold fast and steady at zero tolerance for violent extremists of any type.

I checked.  Its the Muslim equivalent of the Jewish "Kosher" symbol.  Just means that their religious authorities have cleared this food as meeting the requirements of their faith's dietary laws.
