I've been looking for a generator for a while but they barely ever show up.. I'd like to get a jensen 15, but the metal wilesco would be good too.
Has anyone ever bought one of these kits? How difficult do you think they are to build? edit: none of the pics in the auction are working for me, but it looks like a pm research generator. http://cgi.ebay.com/Live-Steam-En...iewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262 |

None of the pictures will work for me either. _________________ Les - Old age isn't so bad when you consider the alternatives.

I can't see the pictures but on reading the spec it sounds like the PM research one.
Ministeam sells them for a couple of dollars less but don't know what they charge for postage.
Ministeam also recons about 10 to 12 hours work to machine, paint and assemble it.
If your good with a lathe shouldn't be too hard, if you don't have a lathe or just learning I wouldn't get it. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Didn't Reid buy his Major Dynamo out of the UK for a reasonable sum?
One caution with the PMR. It looks pretty, but the output is nowhere near as good as they advertise. So if you're going for looks, it's nice, but otherwise I would sooner have one of Peter's stepper units.
Also, this fellow makes a nice AC generator. They do not have a current auction listed, so here's one pulled from my history.

They were listing a pair of them every other week or so a little while back. Nominal cost to buy direct from the guy is, I believe, 40euro for the basic generator
Jensen 15's come up often enough on ebay, but for the prices they are fetching it might be just as well to support the company and buy a new one direct, and have that instant gratification. _________________
