Our verry own Steam Magician, Mirko, has kindly donated this chassis:

...
  offering these for inspiration:

As many of you will have recognised, the chassis is from a Wilesco Fire Engine; about 370mm long x 180mm wide. It has wheels and steering gear and one seat, but no engine or boiler. A horizontal boiler can be mounted at the rear, hidden under a large seat. There is room under the chassis for an engine.

The first priority is to find a horizontal boiler and suitable engine. There's room for a maximum 130mm long boiler. Obvious candidates are a Wilesco D48 or D52, provided the boiler is the right size. Does anybody have the dimensions?

The D48 boiler is 140mm long, diameter 55mm.
Now I'll go and look for a D52.

The D52 boiler is 118mm long, diameter 45mm.
These measurements include the sight glass and it's screws.

Thanks Phil. That means that the D52 boiler would fit easily but the D48 is just too long. However, I might be able to metal-bash the chassis to force it in. The twin cylinders would be nice and would fit neatly under the floor of the chassis.

A Mamod SE2 boiler is about the right size but the engine is not really suitable. A separate engine would have to be sourced.

I'm on the lookout for suitable parts, folks. Any offers? I'll pay a fair price but I'd rather not spend a fortune.
