...oilers! Looking at the picture of the engine of the month I noticed that it has a couple of oilers that look identical to one that is bolted to one my steam engines. There is a picture of it HERE and a super high resolution shot of it HERE might take a while to load if you have a slow connection...

... More high resolution photographs can be found HERE When you get to the gallery, click on the thumbnail to enlarge. If you want it biger click on the enlargement to go really big!

Ralph.

Yes, that looks like a Bowman oiler. In the 20's and 30's they could be bought separately for, I think, 1 shilling. If only.....

Somebody did tell me it was a Bowman oiler but that did not mean much to this Meccano nut! It was good to see one (or two) on a Bowman engine.

That is definitely a complete Bowman oiler and a rare beast at that. I was very lucky to get two last year grouped in with a Mamod SE2a, I have never seen any others on e-bay since.

They were supplied as standard on the larger Bowmans- M122, 135 and 101, and as options on some of the smaller. Sadly though they often fell off or were removed and too fiddly to replace- Some of us (Steve_s and Rocdoc among others ) have made excellent replicas though.

Nice to see there
