I got this one today... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAP...6satitle%3D220047206420%26fvi%3D1
The safety valve seems to have broke from its threaded end, threaded bush may be ok apart from having threaded end of valve stuck in it. This is a pre-water level plug version. It looks like only one end cap is removeable-the one farthest away from the w/l plug. Not sure how to approach this repair.

How about take the piece of thread thats stuck in the bush out and see if it's Ok. If it is just get a new safety valve. If not you will have to either take the end cap off, or use that solder paste we have been talking about and solder the thread back on from the outside.

If the thread has stuck in the insert you could get it out with an 'easy out'. This is a bit like a threading tap but it has a left handed twist for extracting the old thread.

This might work. Even though the valve threaded end is broke from the valve, the stem with spring is still intact and so it wont come out. If I understand you correctly, you're saying heat from outside to desolder the whole thing...then remove threaded bush, re-install, and buy another s/v. Yes?

Just had a thought, I may be able to snip the valve at stem, then I'd have better access to work the stuck threaded part out, with an easy-out, as Griff says. The stem part would fall into the boiler but should be able to fish it out if I can clear the broken thread from the collar. Bummer, was hoping all I had to do was clean this one.

Yup, threaded collar is fine! I had to pop off the end cap though...
hope it goes on as easy as it came off.
Need Minor 2 safety valve now...

Good one in Edinburgh, York and just outside Durham I know of that all stock live steam toys.
