For the past couple of years i have been toying with the idea of scratch building a Dewinton loco and today the first parts were made. The chassis had been built for another idea which got abandoned and the second photo shows the cylinder block

Oops no photos with your posting.

I got outbid on an early PPS DeWinton on ebay recently. Although their latest version does not have boiler cladding, you can see that is uses a lot of components from the PPS Janet (wheels, cylinders, reverser valve, handrails, etc.).

These are popular engines with Garden Railway owners.

Look forward to reading more on your progress.

Once I feel my skills are up to the challenge I want to build one of these locos too but first I want to get a couple of stationaries under my belt.
I'll be watching and hopefully learning too.

More progress has been made with the cylinder block being finished and the slide valve made. Hopefully the steam chest will be next.

The steam shest was made today but none of the holes line up with the cylinder block  So it looks like i will have to make a new cylinder block, which will give me chance for some refinements
