| I'm out of my league here so would appreciate some good advice. I owe a steam nut big time and would like to buy him a pressy for all he has done for me as he won't take cash. I'm torn between the Markie Road Loco and the Maxitrax R/Loco. I only play around with little Stewarts etc. so I really need some help in deciding. Please let me know what you experts would go for and why. I really don't want to make an expensive mistake. Thanks. |

welcome to the forum vbull
my personal opinion is that markie are alot better, they look better, can be coal fired etc
the maxitraks arent very well made, from looking at them, they are quite nice, but not as nice as the markie, you can ask many people and they say all maxitraks arent very good. the maxitrak burrell can pull 1 person on flat ground, which is good. i am not to sure about markie pulling people.
if you want it for looks and realism, then markie.
if you want it to pull them and have an ok look, then maxitrak.

| i would go for the markie coal fired one. excellent looking one in old glory this month. the price of a markie is £2300, and a maxitrax is £2600 i think. i would go for the markie. |

I'd buy a secondhand Minnie.
The Maxitrak looks nice but does not have authentic traction engine controls. It has controls like on a Accucraft loco.
The Markie just does not look very good to me.
Minnie's however are usually coal fired and will last for ages. _________________ burning fingers since 1989! |
