Thanks Greg the drawings will be great .I may have enough info from youre restoration thread ? but not certain on the hull I will build as there a few versions.Have you ever sailed youre Miss America its just the very small size of the plant the other boat in the pic is Peter Pan the smallest they made but the plant is slightly larger Do you know how long is the prop shaft ?
kind regards Frazer |

I have the scans on their way to Tony Muir- you will like that they can be printed on 11 x 8.5" paper and make a plan.
I have also suggested to Tony that in the thread we all who have good close up photos to post them there- It should be the single definitive thread for the Miss America i none spot on the web
All finally in one resting spot...
P.S. If you have any drawing from your excellent boiler - firebox and engine - they should join in the fun _________________ Lagniappe readily offered and accepted,

Hi Greg, thanks for the info. The boiler and engine are built to the dimensions in youre restoration thread but will do some C.O.C sketches if needed the only dimension missing that was important is the crank to cylinder pivot and this worked out to be 1 3/16 I have played with the porting slightly so she now revs freely on 5 to 10 psi.The cylinder was made from 1/4 K.S tubing as it worked out very close to size and the bore on these tubes is near perfect saves lapping and a lot of time as well as reducing the wieght and inertia around the pivot and lets them rev
Hi Tony, many thanks for the compliment and as you say I was chuffed that it ran so well on its first steam up as you know theres usually a few bugs but this one simply screamed into life
kind regards frazer |

Good to know--Stilldrillin ( David) made the replacement engine parts for me - As all this stuff is flung far and wide it will be grand for future boast waiting to steam again

That's "bloody marvelous" you should be fully congratulated on your efforts to date.
I only hope to aspire to producing pieces to the standards of both yours and Tony's efforts. The more I look at the replicas people are building the more confidence I have in giving it a go.
My Miss America has had a bench test run and is now running faultlessly for 18 minutes per boiler fill, which surprised me as the boiler is so small.
Investment needs to be made in a hot water flask and a fishing line buoy (just in case it takes on water) as I think the pond near me has a muddy bottom and the rescue row boat isn't always available. A full report will be made on what shan't be its maiden voyage but it certainly will have been many years since it was last buoyant. |

Hi Marmite, many thanks and good luck with the sea trials
I think with a little care this small steam plant is well within the reach of most builders as I already mentioned the cylinder is just a small bit of 1/4 K.S tubing and the rest can be made with hand tools so says he with a good workshop but it maybe an idea one day to do a thread on building another using only hand tools but not this year for me to many other projects
kind regards frazer |

Hi Moe it will be 1 1/2 weeks until I can get them up as I'm interstate for work and have only got my tablet for access.
When I get home I will host them on my website and provide links to them in a new thread here. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Tony as I am a beggar for the favour when it is convenient fro you and not a moment before that will be fine- A eventual collection for this little boat has never been made available before - it can wait till you are able to help
Thanks
Yippee!!
