|
|
Hi steam fiends,
Just received my new SE3 in the post from the states. I thought this would be a good starting engine for my son Dennis who is 12, the same age as me when I got my first engine, also an SE3 seen together in the last picture.
Looks like one piston missing but barrel still attached. Remaining piston and barrel seized (probably why it is also not missing so not necessarily a bad thing) now soaking in WD40.
Whistle pulls out of boiler with color so some soldering to do.
Water level plug and burner missing.
All else looks to be in good shape so I will look for replacement parts and act as supervisor and let Dennis do all the restoration work. Once he has established the basic skills I have my own in house engine maintenance man so well worth the price of another engine.
Hope to be posting a video of this little beauty steaming away in the not too distant future.
Cheers from Mick & Dennis, Bangkok |

Thats a great engine for your son to learn the ropes on.
Keep us updated as to how he gets to grips with it! |

Great addition Mick, and it will be great fun running 2 SE3s together
You may need penetrating oil rather than WD40, its more oily I find it a bit better for stubbon pistons _________________ You cant get an engine for that anymore unless you are lucky |
