A while ago I was approached by a guy who had a little Bowman Snipe in really quite poor condition - he wanted to know if I did commercial restoration.....I said no, but I'll do it for materials and a decent bottle of scotch.
Over the course of a few weeks I turned it from this:

(owners pic)

to this:
(in front, the one behind is mine).

Reglued, straightened out and resoldered the engine and boiler, made boiler shroud and spray hood and repainted the boat where necessary, using paintmatched paint, made a burner. Returned the boat  to the owner, who expressed his delight.

Now my turn to express my delight, as I've just had a delivery from Oddbins, containing two bottles of VERY fine single malts (Laphroaig and special reserve Talisker), and two very nice bottles of wine!

Needless to say this gent will not be charged for the £20 of materials I threw at his boat. If you ever have the opportunity to do a Coll McDonnell a good turn, I suggest you take it!

Rog, in your case I'll settle for return flights to Indiana (and given the amount of work involved, possibly a green card )

Wow, what a change,  a real case of ," Cast your bread upon the waters etc ...", you really deserved the physical accolades.

I'd love a boat but I think my collection needs thinning out anyway, to make a change in direction.

Cheers

Chris
