Well not really, they are tearing out the Chimney on my house today, the plus is that it is a big Chimney so it has ended up being easier than they thought, but a big mess none the less.

6 years ago I would have done it myself, but cant now and it is hard to watch others work and not be able to lend a hand.

Well if you can't help them, sit back with your favourite drink and steam one of your engines.

John , you've done your bit.

As was said, sit back and enjoy it.

Tearing out chimneys is really not all that exciting.

Now firing up a steam engine and imbibing a few well iced vodkas. That's different.

I strongly advise the second option.

A good Single Malt now that it is done might be in order, or a good Kentucky Bourbon.

My chimney is good sized and two men were standing on top of it as they knocked the flue tiles loose. I expect the Stove and new flue around a week from now.

I really hated to see the big Masonry Flue go as it will be replaced with Stainless Steel. I was not in the position to take pictures, but James would have liked them.

Make the most of the fact that someone else is doing the work for a change, so sit back and enoy it.

Yes, but the $1100 sure could have bought some nice Steam Engines.

Bloody hell!

And it's all one chimney? Over here you get them like that big, with say 5 pots from different fires in different rooms.

I had a bad Chimney fire and the Flue tiles were all badly cracked. The Insurance Company would no longer Insure the house unless the flue was replaced. It has been about two months now, but all that is left now is to reline the flue and replace the Woodstove. The old had to go to make room for the new Flue.
The flue is considerably smaller than the chimney.

Cool, well kinda. A chimney fire, that must have been a sight. All that soot and flamable material build up and BOOM.

Not too cool when it ended up costing a fortune to fix up. This one cost more than a years income in fact almost two years income. Thank God for Homeowners Insurance. Smoke Damage can be a very bad thing.
