Army Maj. Nidal Malik Nadal Hasan massacred 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. I should think we would have had procedures in place to ferret out deeply disturbed nut jobs like this and remove them from the military or get them help or both. I wonder if political coorectness got in the way of the needed preventive actions. Ironically this scum was a psychiatrist charged with counseling his fellow soldiers.

It is a sad day here in the United States of America.

Very sad day indeed.

Some nutters lie dormant for ages, and its so hard to pick them up.
Human rights gets in the way as well.

Such a tragedy- I feel for the families of all involved

Gil,

You are right about political correctness.  It often overrides common sense, a very scarce commodity in our country nowadays.

Remember though that this was an act of an individual, I know one Muslim family that already has received threats, and their son is serving in Ieaq at this time!

The only help this guy should be getting is a good old fashioned beating every day as he rots in prison for the rest of his life. Death would be too good for him....

Can't begin to even think about what the families are going through

So odd too he was a Major in rank and educated as a MD, specialized as a Psychiatrist! His job was to keep just this kind of thing from happening.

I hate to say it but it is entirely possible, even probable.

Today we have learned that this scumbag had published his rantings glorifying the suicide bombers, etc. He had spoken out publicly in the hospital as well. He did not belong in our midst and he especially had no place in our military. Unfortunately it appears he was our worst enemy. It appears he is of the same ilk as all who would kill us and praise those who would kill us. He is not just some nut job after all but a true islamic extremist terrorist.

As I said before, I have zero tolerance for a violent extremist.

This tragedy is featuring very strongly on all news over here. Making big mentions of the comments e made earlier (on the internet I think) and wishing death upon US troops

As earlier mentioned, I think politicial correctness could have got in the way. Too many people in higher authority too scared to speak the truth, and or use common sense.

My thoughts go out to those affected. It is such an awful tragedy

Well done to the female police officer who played a major part in stopping further deaths

One of the things that sickens me beyond the loss of lives is a large part of our media that is publishing garbage about this "poor stressed out soldier" who lost it and massacred a group of unarmed soldiers. They are making him out to be the victim if you can believe it. I have not seen one story about the profound sadness and forever losses of the murdered soldiers families. Those they left behind have suffered irreparable damage. We don't even know the victims' names and they give the murdering coward all the free rides and soft peddle who he is and what he represents.

Just makes me want to puke seeing some of our news outlets cuddling up to this bastard.

Maybe true but that doesn't change the fact that he is a violent islamic terrorist.

... already, you can read on islamic sites, blogs, youtube, etc., that this creep is a "hero" for taking the lives of soldiers, not innocent civillians.

We cuddle muslims, let them into our countries, let them (mostly) live off our social systems, we dare not hurt their religious feelings, remove the crucifixes from our school's classrooms (here in Austria) - yet they call us 'infidels', refuse to even learn German, ridicule our Roman Catholocism, etc., etc.

And now this massacre at Fort Hood (my parents were stationed there in the 50ies).

I'm sorry that I got so worked up, mates. But I have no sympathy or respect for islam whatsoever anymore.

I have all respect and support for your opinion Tom.

I have some sympathy for those muslims that are very decent people and live by the 10 commandments or similar rules for decent civilized life. It is those who are dangerous that I have no use for.
