|
|
today was the first day of The Guildford Model Engineering Society's 40th annual rally,
my dad and i had set up a stand displaying our mamod and meccano models,
the day had been a bit of a let down, because it rained throughout parts of the day, and sometimes they were heavy showers, this making the fields very soft and slippy. because of this the traction engines didn't get a chance to run, and not many turned up,
but that didnt stop the public coming in.

Nice setup Andy
Is the meccano setup like a mine type thing?
Looks good. If you get a chance I wouldn't mind seeing some closeups _________________

day 2-
Sunday was by far the better day, hot sunny day all day, not a single drop of rain, which was good because the good weather brought the public in and it didn't add to the boggyness of the fields
thats why there were only about 2 traction engine running, compared to 40 normally.
the vacume brakeing system on the raise carraiges

Wow, they are great pics, and what a place to visit
Thanks for showing the pics
Is that wire looping through the engines an alarm?
Cos when I was going through the pics I thought there'd have to be some good security there
Wonderful stuff, and thanks again _________________

LOL just looked back at the pictures and noticed the wire.
I can understand it on the small models but they have it running through lathe and big locos.
Would have to be a brave thief that tried to sneak out a model loco weighing 300Kg!! _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm

Fair enough then.
I actually remember watching a TV show on shop lifting once and people were stealing full size fridge / freezers from shops.
They would walk into the shop in overalls with a fridge trolley and a clip board, walk up to a fridge, open the clipboard and sign it and wheel the fridge out. Everyone in the shop would just think they were the delivery men. _________________ http://www.freewebs.com/ozsteam/index.htm
