As it does not yet seem to be widely known, I thought it may be helpful to let you know that Tony Green has sadly died aged 70.
He ran the popular TGSM site and a very successful model steam engineering business in Lincolnshire for many years. His knowledge of Mamod and similar steam models was quite outstanding, in fact a library of information on models going back over 50 years.
His engineering prowess, as far as our hobby is concerned was second to none. He was always willing to deal with clever technical questions along with the more basic ones with sincerity and grace.
What now happens to the models business is not yet decided but his widow Joan and their son, who runs the family engineering business, will make that decision after the funeral.
He supplied many discontinued parts for various engines as well as engines of his own design and making. This sad event has created a vacuum of knowledge, inspiration and indeed products in our sphere of interest.
I know that we all send our condolences to his wife, as she bravely moves forward during this difficult time for her. _________________ Half of the people in the world are below average. www.modelenthusiasts.com |
