Last Sunday was my first full day on a steam road going vehicle. I was at Amberley about 8:30am, and the engine was a 10 ton Marshall Roller No. 80608, named "Omon", but it's nameplates are yet to be fitted. I cleaned her, lit the fire and built it up, oiled round and steered her for the whole day! We had her ticking over for the best part of the day, but at the end came my test! We had to get rid of some of the fire, so we took her around the "island" which has two horrendous curves at either end, both about 80 degrees first time we had to reverse and go again, second time was perfect! We then parked her in her normal spot, and filled her up with water, sheeted her up and let her cool down. The owner turned up at the end with a new brake boss, as the previous one had broken at Great Dorset This needs some grinding down as it wouldn't fit proper, all in all, a very enjoyable day
