I don't have anything to show, just making a statement of sorts.
I must confess I'm not the handiest person in the world and I like my engines in their used state but finally I'm doing a bit on the big Bing I got.
I seriously doubt I can get a correct original boiler for it so I'm much stuck to dealing with the cosmetics.
As a first step the multi-talented Phil (Bugsy) has promissed to duplicate 3 feet for it's wooden stand and I have ordered the missing handle for the pump/water valve.
It has occured to me that the present boiler probably belongs with the sightglass fittings mounted but it is extremely heavy being close to the thickness of a copper pan. The firehouse is bulging from its weight.
This is a tricky engine to do anything with as the brass fittings were gilt when new and I want to avoid damaging the remains of gilt at any cost. Sadly the boiler and the fittings attached to it have been painted with some coppery paste, probably to mimic the original gilding.
I'm just not sure how to go about it.
One thoughtis to remove the boiler and fix the firehouse and clean the terrible tarnish off.
Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Late but I hope to get ideas now _________________ Et in Arcadia Ego |

I tink you've got a great looking engine there. As for any tarnishing or discolouration, well, it just gives it character.

I tend to agree but I wonder how much is mere time induced patina and how much should be removed _________________ Et in Arcadia Ego |

I like it as it is. I'm afraid that if you clean the boiler you'll make it worse. It now looks like an old boiler was fitted decades ago, if you clean it up it probably will look like an old engine recently fitted with a new boiler.
I definitely prefer the old boiler look. _________________ Paul |

I would leave it as it is, it is in keeping with its age. _________________ Les - Don't panic - it's your round next.

As it is then
New handle for the water valve is on it's way, Phil is fixing new feet and I'll see if I can arrange a sightglass fittings that will allow the water valve handle to turn properly and it will be fully functional as olde as it is _________________ Et in Arcadia Ego |

Good decision. Any chance of a video of it running when you have fitted the new parts?

A lucky buy really
That snake has been with me since I was very little and done an excursion with my niece and when she grew out of it, it returned to me again _________________ Et in Arcadia Ego |

Interesting.
The boiler looks copper, polishing will only last the first run. it will tarnish very quickly.
I think it will be impossible to restore as new so just for once I suggest leaving be and repairing only what needs it to work safely.
did I really say that.... _________________ Cheers

It's a rare engine with unique boiler so I don't expect to find an original boiler idling around.
I can assure that it will be brought back to full functionality _________________ Et in Arcadia Ego |
