The family and I attended the annual Maritime Festival yesterday in St. Helen's Oregon.

I will split the pictures up in to several pages so members with slower speed connections do not get too bogged down!!

One of my boat club fellow steamers was there and we toured many great old wood hull boats.Only one steam boat ( the 1948 paddle tug "Portland" which house the maritime museum and inside it was a exquisite model of a triple expansion engine.

But there were so many fun classic runabouts and classic yachts it was fun to wander and roam and dream. Also a small sloop was there manned by "pirates" and the only functioning PT boat I believe in existence.

enjoy

The first round:

THis is great, a former employer of mine actually collected Chris Craft boats, some were so beautiful, although I did not enjoy the maintenance ( I got to do some of that ) o wooden boats. All of the boats I ever owned were fiberglass, much easier to maintain but not as beautiful.
He also had some Garwood boats, real cool and pretty boats too.
More pictures please

mmm! those mahogany runabouts are just beautiful   I would love to have one some day in fact I have a vintage wooden model speed boat that looks like one that I'm gonna to stain it to look like mahogany and make look like one and convert it to RC     also in one of the pictures I saw the stern paddel wheel of a steamboat & if its the one I'm thinking of a huge steam powered river boat in Portland then why aren't there any pictures of it  sorry for my tone I just love steamboats   plus this is a steam forum       MHS
