I've been following in the footsteps of Trevithick and i had a chance to visit some very nice engines down in Cornwall.

East Pool Mine/ Harvey's Engine

This site is home to a massive 90" Cornish pumping engine made by Harvey & Co of Hayle in 1892.

Engine house and chimney.

Pump rod on the end of the beam.

View up the chimney.

Remains of the boilerhouse.

Drivers view of the engine.

The packing flat of the 90" cylinder.

The beam weighs 52 tons!

Michell's Whim

Over the road from EPAL is a nice winding (Whim) engine, the engine is turned over with an electric motor (not steam sadly) and is great to watch in motion.

Engine house.

Crank & Flywheel.

Cornish boiler by Ruston & Hornsby.

Cylinder top.

Beam outside the engine house.

Levant Mine

This was my favourite out of all the places i visited and it has a lot to see and the beam engine is powered by steam and has to be one of the smallest engine house's i have been in. Sadly the weather wasn't perfect but i think it added to the atmosphere of this special place.

The Whim engine house and remains of the pump house.

Right on the edge of the cliff face.

Arsenic calciners.

View from the coastline.

The skip shaft.

There are steps in the rockface (not visible on my photo) where the miners walked down to the shaft before the man engine was installled.

Cornish boiler by Holman Bros of Camborne.

Beam engine made by Harvey's of Hayle in 1840.

Watt's Parallel Motion.

Beam floor, the beam weighs 2 tons.

Cylinder top.

Passage to the man engine shaft from the miner's dry.

At Levant Mine are those lighthouse in the fog? I like lighthouses. I would LOVE to go to the UK and not only would I like to see steam engines but all so some old castles.

Thanks for the great pictures and video!

Yup just chimneys as Pauly says, although there is also Pendeen lighthouse not far away on the next set of cliffs as you can see it on a clear day.
