John, it looks and runs like it came from the factory that way!  I agree, not sure why Jensen doesn't offer the 70 in that configuration, they have the firebox and boiler setup already in place for the 75.

Isn't that St. Paul Steam gas burner setup just a joy ?   I am running engines I have let lay fallow for years to avoid meths burning smell.  I love mine!

The older brick fire housing the chimney does not come off just on the later ones. I think the die they use must be ware out and wonder why they do not make a new one. Not like they have not got their money of the the one they have been using since early 60s.

Your #70 runs very well. I have considered making my #55 gas fired just to be able to run it no matter where I am or when the lights go out.

I agree, I think the humped pressed metal base that Jensen bricked chimneys attach to is from a well worn press.  I have found a simple solution though...just a smear of CA glue on the inside of the bottom of a bricked chimney, then press into place nice and square...voila, a semi-permanent chimney.

It then won't come undone from vibration or a gentle nudge...but if you do want to remove it, just grasp firmly and rock it a bit and it will come free.  To re-attach, another smear of CA and it becomes locked in place again.

I have to agree with Rog and i wish Jensen did offer a dry fuel option for the #70 as i know i would buy one.

Great video and good to see you enjoying your gas burner from Bruce.

Philip, it would be easy to do as John did with a new 70 or used.  Just replace the firebox and support with a spare/new one from Jensen (with the air/heat vents), removing cord and heater in the process.  Probably an extra $25 USD for the new firebox & chimney support...re-using the original chimney.

Voila, a flame fired 70!
