Glad you like it Clinton...just make sure when you test it that the bulb is tightened and you lash it up to a fast RPM engine. Your Jensen 75 will do the job nicely in the RPM dept.
Even though you have some large boilered engines, if they don't spin the flywheel fast enough the Jensen 15 will not light brightly, it MUST be spun fast.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Clinton, if you can turn the generator fast enough, the bulb positively glows
You are right, they are a must have accessory. _________________ I have a soft spot for SR1's, and Jensen engines of the cast iron leccy variety |

Here is mine powered with my Jensen 25, it is the same as a 75 but electrically heated, just as powerful.

I don't really like that one because you can't see how it works. |

I wound some dental floss around the pulley on one of mine and gave it what I thought was a reasonable tug..
It blew the blub in half a second _________________

That is because of your electric personality
Make sure that you have the right Blub too _________________ Your life is an occasion...Rise to it |

Mark, Jensen routinely supplied the GE#352X with their lighter wt. 15E generator...the model intended for lower powered steam engines.
The GE#14 is the stock bulb used in the more powerful #15 and is available around here from Radio Shack. I have heard of one situation where the #15 was accidentally supplied direct from Jensen with a 352X bulb which promptly blew out when the 55 engine it was tethered to was fired up.
I did some experimenting with bulbs awhile back to optimize them to my engine/generator combinations. I found the following;
#502 bulb (with nice large globe) works beautifully with the psantama stepper motor's DC output (his first generation)...very bright. I run two of them simultaneously as the output would blow one I'm afraid, but their light output from that generator is superb
- rated 5.1 volts and 150 ma
#222 bulb (with focused bulb) works well with the Jensen 15's AC output...it is rated 2.33 volts and 270 ma.
#14 bulb stock with the Jen 15 AC output...is rated 2.47 volts, .300 ma and .741 wATT (more diffuse light than the #222)
===========
So as John said...get the right "blub"

Actually I ordered a replacement from Jensen, but Dorita sent me the wrong one; the one for the 15E
I usually have more of a calming effect on electrics/electronics.
As opposed to some people I know, who can just about fry a PC by being in the same room as one.
Edit: thanks for bringing this up, Rog. I got an assortment of bulbs from Radio Shaclk recently, though none of them seem to be as good and the GE#14 I did buy isn't a globe bulb, but rather of a shape to fit a penlight, for some odd reason...
I'll just order a few of the proper ones next time.
The one I blew with the dental floss was indeed the proper one, btw. Just shows that those generators can put out a decent bit of power at the higher RPMS.. _________________

Ahhh, THAT is why you blew the bulb with a pull on your dental floss!!! 99% likely you received that #352X bulb.
That's two Jensen factory mistakes in 70+ years...the place must be going to pot! _________________ Visit IndianaRog and The Temple of Steam: www.indianarog.com |

How fast did you pull the floss Mark?
Looks like I'll have to check back here if I need a new bulb. |
