This engine will be arriving shortly.  Any further information on it would be appreciated, as to model, confirmation of its being a Plank and not the Alyn Foundry copy, etc.  I would really appreciate it if someone could show me some pictures of what the original burner should look like and some dimensions, or someone who would be capable of making a replacement.  I will include more pictures upon its arrival.

I am not completely sure but I believe the design was from the 1700's.

Can someone verify or correct?

Doug, Here is your engine in a catalog I have.

The same page has your Marklin hot air engine.

You can see some of the burner and housing.

thats wonderful gil ..so the burner is sorta square with a flat "windup " wick with suitable draught surrounds ...a old lattern may provide some parts for a repo

I think those photos Gil showed came from this book, it is a great book with the rarest german engines pictured (you'll find almost all of the rarest german engines and accessories)

(Is this the one Gil? the lay out is exactly the same)

That burner might be a challenge to make.... I'll have a look through a few books tonight to see if I can find some better photos of the burner
Great engine by the way
Nicolas

Mine is the same book with a slightly different cover.

Doug's engine is real nice, but it is very different than the Plank that is in the catalog. The Plank has a cast iron base and columns as one piece, more of a toy engine than the nice one Doug has.

Gil was mistaken. I was watching the marklin on ebay, but didn't win it.
