If it contains tallow then it might possibly go "off". However, try it and see what it's like.

Use a strong flashlight and see if there is any sediment in the bottom. If the organic fats have separated out of the oil and formed a sludge on the bottom of the can, then it will not really be true steam oil any more, but just a petroleum oil. If it hasn't separated and the fats are still in suspension, then likely it is just fine, as the others have said.
