Great video.
Sadly what you couldn't see was the little mamod loco at the back pushing them all along!
Hoping Jilly and Graham see this thread and they reproduce this using their expanding loco collection.

That was the steam steel and stars cavacade at Llangollen. All in order to raise money to build another GWR loco when will people learn? Even harry Potter has decided red is the colour for his loco.
I supose you could count the standard (78019) as LMS when you think Riddles was the man in charge and he was LNWR/LMS through and through.

Twas a great cavelcade. The ground vibrated as they went past. I'll have to upload my video some day! Best loco there was either the 56xx or the fantasticly filthy 28xx. I hope they do another weekend, 'cos it was awsome! Should of all been GWR in GWR livery, 'cos it's a GWR branch.

Great Western engines are mainly tank engines and are quite puny, only good forbranch line and shuttle work. Although they certainly got something right (the King's!).

Ok, Ok. When anyone does mention 'GWR', I instantly think of a quaint little branch line in the middle of nowhere with a Pannier Tank or 14XX and Autocoach. I hardly ever think of the powerful express engines such as the King's! Must be summat to do with my Southern upbringing

Meh they are all Gas Works Rejects.
The French had to show them how to build the front boggie on the kings but I supose they would be half decent engines if they left the platform edges alone everywere they went without trying to take them with them.
Powerful? cough cough Dutchess's cough cough.
Been up at Bury for the steam gala all day with the BHG stall. The green engines spent all day hanging round in pairs. Mind you 1 was the antique, for a GWR standard guage loco I actualy quite like it. Though it did seem to drink alot more water than anything else all day
Realy gutted to see the Beatie Well tank wasnt running.
But the black and red engines ran fine all day. They even let them go out on their own

Problem with Southern locos was they were to light. Spam cans were prone to "picking up their feet".
LNER had some nice loco's mainly built for speed. The LMS was realy the back bone of the country when it came to sheer power. Though quite a change when you think they took over from the MR with the small loco policy of If you cant find a loco big enough to pull the train put 2 on it.

Going back to the tractive effort debate, the NGG16 Garrett's on the Welsh highland can do just the same as a Black 5!
SR engines were light, but have you seen the track around here? Not all of it is built to mainline express standards. You barely ever get over 60 on the straight stretches near me
