2 SV wilesco D10I have just seen another wilesco D10 with 2 SV's, and this makes me think that this was done on purpose. It also has some special sticker opposite from the wilesco sticker. any ideas?

Hello
The sticker is apparently of the salesman attached, a toy business. The 2 SV was built only a short time of Wilesco, and only into D10 and D8, approx. at the beginning of the 70's. There was no designation D10-K.

Interesting thread.
I had a look around the "Waiting for Attention" engines in my workshop and found two D8s with 2 SVs.
One has a grey base and con-rod made of round steel rod.
The other has a blue base and a pressed metal con-rod.
This would suggest they come from two different periods.
The electric D8 on Klaus Lutz site also has two safety valves:

At one time the extra hole was for a filler plug, so when they dropped that, they probably had to fill the hole, so they just stuck another SV in it.

hmmm, could it have been a refill whilst still running idea?that didnt get the full atention of the original creator?without seeing inside the boiler it would be hard to say,2 sv's makes no sense to me at least :/

I've seen a lot of older Wilescos with 2 SVs.

Maybe they thought that one SV was not enough volume of relief
If your Sv does not get rid of what the burner /boiler is making the PSI will continue to rise.
A SV must blow off and STOP the pressure rise in the boiler or its not 100% safe.
Therefore they may have thought at that time that they needed more blow-off to keep the boiler PSI from continuing to rise if un- attended ect.
