3.5" Ivy Hall value?I have a 3.5" LSBC Ivy Hall loco that I'm looking to sell but I'm unsure of it's value. The frames have been made and comes with all the castings, a full copper boiler kit, plans and all the ME mags from the 50's featuring the build. I'm going to take it up to the Guildford model engineering show this weekend as one of the dealers wants to have a look but hasn't given any indication to it's value, or more to the point what he'd offer. This one here
http://www.stationroadsteam.com/stock%20pages/3760/index.htm
sold for £460 and has a lot more work done but didn't have a boiler of any kind. I'm thinking mine with less work but with a boiler kit must be worth at least as much.
So anyone have an idea or interested or know a chap that knows a bloke that might be interested?
cheers

I could tell you if I saw a picture.

I've got to dig the crate out, a picture wont show that much as it's basically a pile of castings, wheel, cylinders etc and copper for the boiler.

I'd say about £350 to 500
it really does depend how nicely the frames are put together. I'm afraid you can spend loads on castings etc, but get very little for them selling them on.

Thanks for that, I have noticed that any new castings seem fairly expensive but have no idea of the secondhand value.
It depends what his markup is, if I only get offered half of the low estimate I wonder if it's worth leaving in the garage till I need to sell it. There's a lot there, I can't even lift the crate, have to half empty it first.
Oh well I'll take it for a ride and see what happens.

no problem.
Are the frames merely cut or are they bolted together?

Thanks Bessy, gives me some idea. I still think it's worth taking with me, could ask around the club maybe.

I wouldn't get your hopes up, the markets all over the show, so keep that in mind. Best of luck.

just my luck. I'm not in a need to sell situation and if I only get offered 100 quid or something as low I'll just put it back and bide my time.
fingers crossed

fair enough, lets see what happens

well it went to a dealer for £275, probably cheap but I thought it resonably fair for someone to sell on and it's way beyond me anyway.

hmm still not bad.

Oh I wasnt unhappy with that as it didn't cost me anything, it came as part of the deal when I bought my lathe amd milling machine. Take that off what I paid and it makes my little workshop a real bargain.
