5" is big enoughG'day All
I hope to show off my little pleasure machine.
A 5" gauge 0-4-0 saddle tank steam loco.
I have been allowed to drive it around the tracks already but not during public trains until I get a level 3 ticket. I am still getting the hang of it

G'day all
A couple more pics. These were taken on the steaming bays at the SASMEE tracks. In the top picture you can see the 5'3" gauge mainline in the background through the fence.

This is not a "set and forget" engine. So far the only way I have been able to really keep steam up is by using crushed brown coal briquetes which burn freely but a very smoky. The grades on our track are enough to move the gauge glass level from top to bottom nut as you go from up hill to down hill.
It is considered a good loco by the blokes at the club but they also have suggested that if I can drive it I can drive anything. I do know a full size loco is more forgiving.
I shall keep you informed of progress.
It has made me more determined to build my own.

Ian

thats a very nice little loco. Looks like a 5" gauge LBSC Tich. The cylinders and frames look identical to my own. Small engines are always more fun than big engines I think.
If you think 5" is big enough, don't buy a 7 1/4 lol. I did and ended up with three! The worst addiction ever!
