Very tempted, but I'm now a fervent M,H & B fan. Der Seekadett would be my number one choice.

Tis a truly beautiful boat, so not starting up a fleet?

Number one priority right now.
Topaz, however, has made me a die hard Marten, Howes and Bayliss fan. Der Seekadett would be my ideal next acquisition. I'll be watching, however, and if the price is right........
....I'll try and resist temptation.

I'd wait and look for a Seekadett, I've a half built kit that's been converted to paddler, I doubt I'll complete it this year, but it's beautiful.

I bet Mooseman is hoping that you'll purchase the launch! It must be rather nice having such a lovely model in ones posession for a little while!

Can we see some pics?
I have heard rumors that M, H & B may not be long for this world, so prices are only going to increase.
I have already contacted several people in the UK to look out for one and am placing wanted Ads in 'Model Boats' and 'Marine Modeling Monthly'.
Brian Marten referred me to a professional who would do the build, but the price is extremely high.

Like all my hulls save one, it's in storage. When I get it out I'll post pics.

Currently the high bidder on this item. Don't know that I'll go much higher though. Rather save my money for Der Seekadett.

Good luck Richard.

Oops. I won it.
Sorry Steve.

The Armada Grows.

the bug bites!

Looks like I'll need to clear a (much!) bigger space on top of the wardrobe.

Wow Richard....you must be a glutton for punishment!!
BEAUTIFUL boat! Congrats mate!
Now if you need someone to come and stay with you for a few weeks to instruct you in the finer points of steam boating, I'd be happy to oblige and discuss terms....
I'll even repair any boathooks I snap off!

Thanks everyone,
Was very surprised to win with the bid I placed 24 hours before the end of the auction. Don't know if Wal is happy with the final price though, I'll hear from him tomorrow.
My first, somewhat embarrassed call, was to Steve S who has very kindly agreed to do the pick up. Again. Thanks Steve.
I'll collect it when I'm next over. This time, however, I'm going to make different shipping arrangements. Even if the gas tank has been used I'm not going through all this Haz Mat airfreight nonsense again.
Moose, you'd always be welcome. Tuck Der Seekadett under your arm and I'll even pay the airfare.

Just got out the tape measure. 62" is enormous.
Like Topaz I think I'm going to be overwhelmed by the scale when I finally see it.

Congratulations Old man!! I take off for Seattle for a few days , and You assemble more to the growing fleet!

I think so.
There seems to be an enormous gap in our defense capability. This, Topaz and the Elliott Bay are it for now.

After being the guy who was immortalized diving for my boat...an you and Andrew being more SEA -faring in your sailing options ... there are some quick-release buoy systems for boats sailed in deeper water. It could aide in recovery if a rogue wave ever swamps one of the armada. They deploy if a boat dips below the water. There are several designs and are quite inexpensive and help mark a boats location till a rescue is done. They even are easy to camouflage in amongst the launches normal trappings.
I only plant this seed in thought as a boat sunk is hear stopping, a boat recovered is a tragedy averted, one not is a time of mourning.
Andrews Zodiac could indeed be a great asset -along with a dip net and or goggles !!
Cheers

Thanks Greg,
I'll certainly look into it.
In the meantime Andrew's dingy is being fitted out with full Scuba capability.
I think you have to be a member to see the pictures but that won't be a problem for Greg and Miles.

I've arranged to collect Richard's new boat next weekend, and I'll post pictures as soon as I get it home. It was described to me by it's builder as "a big bugger" and I think that might be an understatement!

Great documentation---- 62" is a monster- Steve best start looking at a new car!!

Or a Transit Van

Yes, I had considered that... I could borrow one from work... but I think I'll manage to get it in the car, just about!

Maybe I should invest in a boat trailer?

Are they not restoring that inclined Rail thing that you and Andrew explored?

Oh my goodness - another one!! All 62" of it... Very soon even the 7 seas won't be big enough for this fleet
And what's all this interest in a very good-looking tug??
Does this mean another trip to UK for pick up? Sure hope it will be easier/quicker to repatriate

Busted.
The tug is for sale. I've been corresponding with the owner, but unfortunately he'd already sent it to an auction house. Wish I'd caught up with him earlier. We both could have saved a lot of money on fees and maybe made a deal.
The Tug won 'Best in Show' at the model boat exhibition in Blackpool last year.
Have a lot more pictures if anyone is interested. The steam plant alone is worth a look.
