A bit of Wilesco funNow, not to everyone's taste and to be honest not mine but they sort of add to the collection. This is a set of figures sold by Wilesco.
Not much to say about them except, if anyone likes these and wants some themselves, there are 3 more on ebay at the moment. The set on ebay includes an engine driver.
These are my new figures.
And here's a link to the ones on ebay at the moment.

I really like them Manxman.
Are they about 7cm tall?
I have tried and tried to find similar figures in a hobby shop near here and had no luck.
Would be great for a diorama or other display

Spot on. I had a quick measure and all between 70mm and 80mm. I'm not sure I like them but their must be a market for these because Wilesco have had them in their product range for a good few years.
Wilesco actually do 8 different small figures like these but I think I'll stop with my 3, unless the others on ebay stay at a very low price.

Thanks for that Manxman.
I think those 3 you have are so well suited to a Mobile

I suppose. They do an engine driver as well. I guess I may like him as well. But I'd not want to pay very much. I think Wilesco sell them as 2 different boxed sets of 4 men. Each box is about £20GBP which is a lot of money for 4 poor quality plastic figures.

Great for display, thats about it!
they look good with the showmans anyway
Not as good as the tea break though that was a classic

am I right in thinking LGB make these for Wilesco? The road workers Wilesco sell are identical to the track maintenance ones LGB sell. The driver with the oil can in the first pic is a LGB one too.

Ok, I got another 2 figures. These cost very little and I now have the engine driver and a box.
So I now have 5 of the 8 possible figures and I guess I think I have the best ones for mobile steam toys. I've said this before but I do now think that's it. No more poor quality Wilesco plastic figures.

Manx, if that Showmans is based on my mate's (Foster Showmans "Victorious"), then would that make them little blokes models of me and me mates?

Wonder if they would fit in a mamod loco cab?

I like the little figures, but they are a bit over priced.

For me, yes. Loads to much new. But, second hand, why not. Just a bit of fun. The two I've just got, cost me £3.10 GBP. I spend that every lunch time on a sandwich.

I don't know but the figures are about 70mm high. Is that about right for the Mamod Cab.

I plan on getting one of these for my Roundhouse and as I've fitted the same lubricator to my Mamod it should fit that too.
Bottom of the page, the one legged guys, without the smoke.

I'm not exactly sure but will go measure the doorway on my Lady Anne and that will give us an idea.
They are in 16mm scale so if it is a model of someone 6 foot tall that would make it 96mm tall.

Good enough. That makes them the same size as the figures I used for my tea break shot.
The figures look great I just don't seem to be able to work out how to order one. The website is fun but at the moment is getting the better of me.

Just measured my Lady Anne and going by that the one legged figures would be around 80 - 85mm tall, much taller and they wouldn't fit in

Their expensive, but worth it becuase they're hand made, in Britain.

Well I've sent them an e-mail. I'll let you know if I buy anything.

Manx, if you do, let me know please mate, I'd like a Fred Dibnah one, and it might be cheaper if you buy in bulk

Here's another source of loco drivers ( http://www.ayanami.co.uk/test/cat...=4d707e9c418dc19a511af75ccb38a043 ). Not as funny as the Busybodies, but cheaper and they do one that suits the Mamod.
Also have a look at there accessories as they do some drums and crates which would look good on the flatbed or possibly even open wagons. I got some at their trade stand at the Merstham show last year, plus a couple of drivers. Sorry no photo but I'm currently working away from home.

They have open days where you can go round the factory and watch them run! Another place worth visiting in Doncaster is Markham Grange Steam Museum, they've got a great collection of steam engines there!

Didn't Fred Dibnah go there on one of his programs? Where the voulenteers were just moving from another place??

Oh yeah! Maybe Wilesco should make a loco jointly with LGB?

Yep, he went there. There's an engine there out of a steam dredger my dad use to fire on, it were one fine boat.

What do you think of these. These are Busy Bodies Engine Drivers. Busy Bodies do figures in a number of different sizes and these fellas all seem to be just right for a Mamod Traction Engine (see ruler by the side. Thse men are as tall as the P&J figures). I've had a first e-mail conversation with Rob Bennett and am hopeful of making an order in the next couple of days.

I like them, loads of character.
I better send my email off if I want to get one for Christmas too.
He also makes likeness figures too for a bit more.
Fancy driving your traction engines yourself Chris?

Nope, I can only just drive my car. I don't think I was really made for the roads. But, Fred Dibnah driving a Mamod Steam Roller. Got to be worth looking into.
