A Mamod loco diesel companion!Hi,
I thought I'd inform you all that a individual is producing the perfect diesel companion for a Mamod/MSS steam loco, at the very good price of £62.50 + £4.50 P&P! There are photo's of the semi open cab loco here: www.rvlr.photos.gb.com/p38190627.html And the enclosed cab version here: www.rvlr.photos.gb.com/p38634030.html As for the one I had built with a few diffrences here: www.rvlr.photos.gb.com/p39329755.html
If you would like to purchase a loco like this you need to contact Peter Longfils, on his e-mail address rvlr_workshops(at)yahoo.co.uk (replace the (at) with @).

That is good, I am looking for something that will be a bit safer to leave running with the baby about.
I have seen these before but didn't know he was in full production.

Curious little thing.

He's not in full production, they are all constructed idividualy! The construction method is printed card glued on wood and finished of with a coat of varnish! And it's very effective.
James
I like em!
Card on wood? Not too tempted now...
SillyBilly
No, it's very robust. And extremly well built. And if you have a certain accident and drive down the wrong siding and end up in the soil, the soil just wipes off.
James
How powerful is it?
SillyBilly
It’ll haul 3 all heavy metal Mamod coaches up a 1 in 80 gradient! To me that is good preformance. the only problem I had was when i tryed to pull round my SL5 round with the cylinders on, it struggled but made it in the end.
James
How do you like control the speed and that?
SillyBilly
It has a simple Forward-Off-Reverse with, and does not include a speed control, as not many locos on that chassis do.
James
Ahh ok. So overall, not TOO good a loco?
SillyBilly
I would say it's a very good loco, and you definatley get your moneys worth, and on request Peter may fit a speed conrol, but with a price increase of course.

You seem to know him well. He is one of the original members of this forum but has never posted. Could ya drop him a line to say he has people interested in buying his products and get him to come on here so I could talk to him in person?
Cheers

Ye sure.

Cheers mate

It is a very good price, you pay much more for a factory made "diesel".
MTA
I think the next step up is an Accucraft Baguley-Drewry diesel, they look very nice and you can get sound systems for them. You can also fit R/C at a later stage
Chris
The accucraft look good, but are £150.
Think these carboard/wood ones are good value especially as it is something I would just set running while getting steam up.

NO!! The builder has obviously designed this, as Locolines have a completly diffrent design of loco, www.locolines.net/kits.htm scroll down untill you see 'Chunky'! If you go on Peters site you can se that he owns a selection of the Locolines locos, and I presume that he got the idea from there!
Chris
By the time you buy that and a chassis for £23 from IP, and some varnish etc I think that just goes to show what a good price these ready made ones are!
SillyBilly
I also prefer the look of then RVLR one!

Just thought I'd revise this post with a video of the loco hauling my un-complete scratchbuilt service train set, both coaches are based arund the I.P engineering Lollypop range (one built 2006 and other 2007). www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5fmnlH24sQ

Ive got one of the lollipop railcars myself and with a bit of minor mods on the cosmetic side they look brilliant and as they come are powerful to boot. Had mine pulling 2 bogie coaches up a stiff grade without much hesitation.
Well worth getting one.
PS I like the diesil yo built.
SillyBilly
I didn't build it, I bought it from the guy who built it! You can see it in detail this summer, hopfully!
PTLRcecil

Oh thats good but anyway its still a nice diesil. All ours are either knackerd big bigs old fallers or battery eating accucraft bagulys.
