A top funnel for my stack

I am looking for a funnel cap to top the stack on my Modeen /Crompton boiler. The stack is plainly made of copper and is shade over 1" I.D. and 1 1/16"O.D.

I am looking for a nice pronounced "fluted " type .. Is there any sources for one that resembles a original Bowman 135? I am unsure what size their stacks are////

Thanks ( I have checked a few known resources to me but I am sure I do not know all the right ones!!)
johnreid

The stack on my 135 is .9725 inches

I think it would be so easy if one had a lathe. Do you know anyone who is a machinist?
Nick

I think he does.

Bowman chimney sizes:-

101 chimney, 8 1/2" long, exhaust pipe hole 2 5/8" from bottom.
101 chimney slots 3 1/4" from bottom, 3/4" long.

122 chimney, 6 3/4" long, exhaust pipe hole  2 3/4" from bottom.
122 chimney slots 3 1/4" from bottom, 1/2" long.

135 chimney, 5" long, exhaust pipe hole 1 1/2" from bottom.

All chimneys are made from 1" brass tube

OK.... I do .........I wonder what a cap would cost........if I were to request one from a machinist.....?

Mo,

Show me one similar, or do a quickie sketch and post it here, to get the shape that you want.

Borrow a vernier and get the exact in and out dimensions. Near enough isn't good enough if time is to be spent on it.

I will see what can be done from the recycle box.

Postage costs only required for this one

This isn't a worldwide offer, otherwise I would be making chimney caps forever.

John

If you can get that done, I might be able to show on here how easy they are to do, and anyone with a small lathe can churn them out by the dozen.

Thanks John- I didn't expect you to reply here- I thought Nick or somebody had a lathe just waiting to be used...

I know my Modeen will run even better with a "Bogstandard" cap on top of the stack!!

O.D of copper stack pipe=28.02mm

I.D. of pipe=26mm

Height from top of stack- Ok with 20mm-25mm  what I am aiming for  or scan a quick sketch .. back with an edit soon..

Thanks again for your kind offer..

Do you want something like the funnel cap on Odilons new steam plant in his new boat?

John

That would be just dandy!! Please feel free to interpret with what material you have available..

A beggar is not a chooser!!

I bow as I leave the room!!

Mo,
No problems, I will see if I can squeeze the article out of myself tomorrow, but no promises. I have a long appointment tomorrow.

I have a long way to go before t he cap on the stack holds me back from steaming the pond....

At your convenience..

A true act of kindness and generosity. A good thing to see. Compliments to both of you, isnt this place great?
mogogear

You are Oh, so right John. He ( and others ) is way too kind... I do not have a lathe- and I thought Nick was fishing for a small custom job.. which I was glad to pay someone for things needed..

I sure didn't expect John to respond.. ..

A kind group indeed... I am going to have to figure out a name that rolls off the tongue that pays homage to this T. U. Mamod & other S. F.  crew with a name on the stern of a boat...TUM&OSF just doesn't do it justice....
