A very cool Jensen 75 power plant on Toy_Steam group

Hi guys,

I don't think this fellow (Martin) is a member of this group, but I just saw something he created that is quite stunning. He incorporated a stock Jensen 75 into a power plant by connecting a small stepper motor to act as a generator. It nicely powers 3 lamps that completely light the engine. His exhaust condensate trap is also pretty neat.

I hope the following link works for you...you might have to be toy_steam member (which you should be too) to make it work...but here goes:

http://ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/...tos/view/19ac?b=1&m=s&o=0

If it doesn't work for you, let me know, I will ask Martin if it's OK to post his pics so you can see them.

This sort of effort is the type of toy steam I love...very, very creative.

cheers,
Rog
James

Wow! I really, really like that
Mamodman123

So am I but I can't remember my username or password

Very nice setup
JensenSteamMan

wow thats snazzy! I was thinking bout doing something similar to that except containing the whole thing onto the stock Jensen base and placeing the lights around various parts parts of the engine to illuminate it all while being self contained.

sigh...the things I never get around to doing

Hmm. Says I have to enable "web access".

hmmm not a meber of yahoo

Seems NON yahoo group folks can't see those neat pics of the Jensen 75 with unique generator and lighting setup. You could join that group as many here are also members of Toy_Steam Yahoo group.

OR

Let me ask owner of that Jensen 75 power plant if he would mind me putting those pics of his engine in a corner of my website and then giving you all the URL...don't want to do it without his OK, but watch this space.

Well I for one would like to see the pictures please without having to "defect" to another steam forum
Mamodman123

Aye post em up on here!
Wallace

I look forward to seeing the pics.

I'm not a member of yahoo either

Link to see pics of a very cool Jensen 75, DC generator etc.

OK, for those of you NOT members of the Yahoo Toy_Steam group,
I got the OK of the builder of this engine (Martin) to post the pictures in a locked corner of my website...they can be reached at the following address:

http://www.indianarog.com/martinsjensen75.htm

This gentleman took a stock Jensen 75 and equipped it with a DC generator made from a surplus item known as a "stepper motor". He added three lamps, 3 switches and a power meter all on a nice wood board base. I was very impressed with his handiwork...including a nifty condensate catcher made from a copper home plumbing fitting.

For more info on how to build such a DC stepper motor generator, I put a little blub, wiring diagram of sorts and a closeup picture of one of these stepper motors on my website under the RESTORERS TOOLBOX, accessible via the following link:

http://www.indianarog.com/restorerstoolbox.htm#109090135

For not much money you can have a very cool generator for your engines.

cheers,
Roger
Wallace

That is great Rog. I really like that.

Sorta lost for words

Seriously, some mods to an engine can be a bit overdone. But that is just great. I like how the lights are aimed at an appropriate area.

If I had that, I'd just have to run it outside in the darkness.

There's no "defection" involved. Many of us are members of both - even our illustrious leader James

Some serious scorching on that firebox.

Yep! I'd highly recommend the Yahoo steam forum.....even if it's just to be kept up to date with Crabfu's amazing creations. So sign up folks!

And while you're at it, for the Bowman fans:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bowman-models/

I've been members of both for years, and although tgere is an overlap, all these groups can coexist peacefully. [/i]

I've also been a member of both for many years and I think the two can not just co-exist peacefully, they complement each other nicely.

Thanks for reminding me about the Bowman group. I looked at it when it first started and it didn't look as if it was going to take off, so I didn't bother. It now seems to be going well so I've joined.
Wallace

I'd like to join, but simply don't have the time to browse both
James

They ain't really "forums" are they?

They work on emails don't they?
tmuir

Yes thats correct James

Good reason why CEDGE is in the pursuit of a scorchless firebox material and why some owners of the "pink" finished Jensens tend to give them a black paint job using high temp paint.

AYe - it mars the engine.

You don't have to browse the Yahoo groups. By default, all posts are emailed to all members unless you say otherwise. Obviously, if there were as many posts as this forum has then it would be overwhelming but so far it's only a few emails a day. The advantage is that you don't miss anything.
Griffin

A very nice setup there. Neat, well set out and very well made.

Thanks Roger for putting it on your website, so us non members could see it.

I'm not a fan of yahoo!

I wouldn't be if they kept emailing me everytime someone posted

Be careful not to slip into a coma
James

Yeah, it kind of gets annoying
Cedge

James... set your Yahoo group preferences to block the emails. I only read the posts on the board. No more clutter in my inbox. I miss the odd attached photo, but I can deal with it.

I'm on about 30 different Yahoo groups and I only get mail from the admins, or an occassional inquiring member. No mass mail blasts for me either.

One of the reasons, I sort of ignored the "newsletter" thread here on this board, hoping it would die a quiet death.
