A view of STIA from the SouthThis was my first time to STIA and I would like to say (like everyone else) thanks for a great day! And also a thanks to my partner who drove me there, many of you met her and she took a few of the group photo's at the end of the event
We left Salisbury at about 08:30 in the morning with about 50 sheets of paper that contained our directions, that worked perfectly! We only stopped three times, twice for a loo break and once for food at a KFC services. She had a Toasted Twister and I had a Zinger burger that was much hotter than usual (remember that burger for later...)
Being as punctual as ever, we arrived exactly on time (if the event started at 12:15 that is ) and spent a good few minutes freezing our bottoms off.
The gates opened to the wonderful voice of Sandman who was bouncing about joyfully recording the rather cold but excited guests.
Inside I met MC_MC, Steve_S, MTA, Mamod Man and the gorgeous Rosa. Titan was kind enough to demonstrate Mamod's new 'William' to me and Minor_1PJG with his Jumper that for some reason was back to front:
Titan's William* (Engine not actually that blurry in real life)
Titan himself!* (The train version)
Titan again* (The Human version)
with back to front jumper.
William performed like a perfect Mamod. Didn't want to move, went like a Banshee and crashed in a ball of flame, then behaved for a while.
I also met Roly Williams, James, Mamod Fan and Mooseman who showed off his wonderful Turbines while James tried to smoke us out of the main shed with his Jensen 75. And all the while we were being stalked by a Scottish accent with a video camera...
I bought a new Boiler for Sovereign from Phil at Forest Classics, and a Guards van for Sir Rillian, and then tried not to spend much more money at the other stalls.
The day ended with James trying to kill us all with his new beast of an engine that finally decided to run and bath us all in its 'Soothing glow'. All in all a great day!
The way home was just as smooth as the way up, except for a long break at a service station as the Zinger burger I had earlier decided to rush out of me at Mach-9 leaving a flaming trail behind it.
What a great day, same again next year?

I didn't notice Ian's jumper was back to front until you had just pointed it out

Sounds like a good idea to me, but please, no more information about the Zinger Burger.

Forgot to mention Alun, I liked your idea about getting Sandy a pager for next year's STIA so we can tell him to film this and that

He was busy all day John, we did think about going to get him but we thought if we did go in search of him someone else wouldn't be in the pic Oh, and Lewis turned up after we took the pictures, literally!

James

It were awkward, cos there was people coming and going all the time, so you couldn't keep track
Next year I shall do as John says and write it down!

Most forum members heard "the cheer" John, and came over- the pic was straight after that. Moose went off as it was his fleishmann, so hed seen it before
I wondered "WTF" but it was just James burning his fingers

Great pic and what a turn out from the forum. If you then add in Lewis, Moose, myself and I sure a few others, we did very well in attending. What a great turn out.

May I recommend that next year you set a time for the forum picture in advance, that way all can be there at the same time.

Niether did I ....
It was also pure chance that I got in the photo, went down to collect my Doll at the end of the show to find everyone lined up!
However thinking in hindsight if a photo is taken it is bound to be at about 17.00 when the show is over, just before everyone starts packing up!
