A visit to a world heritage - Grimeton radio stationThe Grimeton long wave transmitter was built in the 1920's to establish a radio link with New York. It's still working and they are sending 3 times a year on special occassions. It's the only one station of this kind still existing and therefor classified as a world heritage by UNESCO.

The five T-shaped towers form the antenna. It sends with a wave length of 18km, the total antenna length is 4.5km

Very interesting indeed. I gather that the signal is generated by the alternator. A lot more imposing than a cell phone.
