AccessoriesJust curious, what accessories do any of you like to run, if any, aside from stepper motors that is.
I thoroughly enjoy watching my engines chuff along, but there is now a temptation to actually run something with them.
No money for a Jensen 100 here, but I do see economical accessories on Ebay now and again. I think the next purchase for me will be a line shaft, but what use is it if nothing is driven

I don't have much right now. Just some stuff in transit. There is a nice Jensen 100 I am bidding on, though, and I think this one I am going to fight for pretty hard, because it looks..well..nice.
Otherwise... I dunno. I just find power generation to be so fulfilling and all

John,
I have several accessories including ferris wheel, windmill, water pump and the Jensen #100...but aside from an occasional run, I tend to play more with the generators powering lights and motors.
BUT, you inspire me with your question...not immediately, but in the next few weeks I will try and set up a few accessories to run several at a time and video it. The usual problem is they are light weight and you have to screw them carefully to something heavier like a board to keep them from moving toward the engine under spring pressure. That is why the #100 is a nice setup being all screwed down and ready to run.

I found it interesting about the 100 in the interview that Cedge posted. Unfortunately, those seem to draw a high price on Ebay.

John, just keep watching eBay...the #100 comes up quite often in varying conditions. I have seen them sell for $60 in the past six months...also as high as $175 in premo condition with box etc. Sometimes the tools sans board come up even cheaper and it's no sweat to put them on a piece of plywood. Just keep watching, something affordable will pop up sooner or later.

Rog is right there John, the prices seem to fluctuate dramatically at times . Just keep bidding what you are comfortable with and you will succeed sooner or later. Being in my geographic location I always have to take the shipping factor into account as well , you would n't believe the difference charged for shiping for the same item

I have my E.K.T. modell, they are made very good out of cast aluminium and look really like the big ones. I do not run them yet, because they sit on my shelf and if i would screw them all to a wooden base it would be very bulkily...

I have to agree with the others, John, I ended up getting an early model Jensen 75 and a Jensen 100 workshop for around US$125.00, I've seen the Jensen 75# fetch that price alone.
I have all of the Mamod accessories both the old and new series but find it's easier to run the combined workshops because of the issue Rog mentioned of having to screw them down. If you have the individual accessories, in very good condition, one tip to help keep them that way is to use neoprene or fibre washers between the head of the screw and the base plate of the accessory.
Cheers

I almost bought a Mamod Workshop the other day, stupid me, I put a bid in and then decided on a higher amount but decided to manually snipe it at 20 seconds, I was high bidder at 30 seconds and an important phone call happened, the winner got it for 5 cents more than I had already bid. However, I did not need to spend the money as I had just bought the SE1A the night before and my coffers are getting empty.
LOL my priorities were off as I should have entered my bid and then picked up the phone.

The mamod workshops are really good! A lot easier than mounting them all on a base!

I am reminded of Pavlovs Dog when I think about phones and how we are all conditioned to run to pick the bloody things up no matter what.
At work I take great pleasure in ignoring them, even the cell at times.

Here are my "workshops":
Wilesco models (got them for my tenth birthday) with a D&C lineshaft
Classic Jensen #100, ex Temple of Steam
SEL, with a 1550 Major
My favourte, Bowman with SEL lineshaft. Has since been expanded with a Bowman bandsaw. These Bowman models were actually made by Doll.

I've just got a mamod workshop, but I really liked the look of the Jensen workshop. I saw Paul's at Amberley.
I also like to run meccano models.

Just a Mamod workshop. The others can be expensive, so I go for cheap and cheerful
