Afternoon everyone

Thought I'd just say what a thoroughly friendly & helpful forum this seems to be!

When I signed up I hadn't realised how new it was & the small number of members........ That is not a bad thing!!!! You (sorry.... we!) seem to have a real cross section of members; people at school, those stuck on the employment treadmill (unfortunately I'm in this category - mortgage, cars, life/health insurance, wife etc. to pay for.......), retired folk etc...
The small numbers & wide cross section really cut out the back biting & bitchiness that occur on other newsgroups & forums (I belong to a few others - mostly rock climbing & Jag related at the mo.).

Can I suggest that certain posts relating to an angry ebayer & personal vendetta brought onto this site are removed in their entirity. Including this post, perhaps.
Unfortunately these low lifes love the publicity that their ignorant postings create & will come back for more. If all evidence of their existance is removed then it becomes a boring waste of time for them.

On a more positive note :- my fathers recent Wilesco has not only re-triggered an interest for me but he now intends to help out with:-

Yes! I'm jealous. Oh to be retired or to have a life of independent (undependant?) wealth.........

Still waiting for my recent ebay purchase TE1A to arrive but fired up the crappy wilesco d3 this afternoon anyway......

Cheers to you all & happy steaming!!

Ian.

Good old Rudyard, my society took our loco up there last year:

www.sdlrs.com

I've driven Pulborough many times, as many narrow gauge locos are noted: 'It's like driving an arm chair!'

I agree with this statement, narrow gauge locos are just too easy to drive, give me a scale SR King Arthur or LMS Black 5 anyday

As one who retired early (at 52) I can honestly say it was the best thing I've ever done.

If you can, go for it at your earliest opportunity Ian.

Glad you're enjoying the forum. I've had so much out of it since I joined. You can rest assured we'll do all we can to keep it this way.

Good luck with the TE.

About the same as my m&d did.

I'm 33 so have a way to go yet

My Dad loved it, built a new boat, started building (more) grandfather clocks (the best, in my opinion, being the wedding present he built for us ). My Mum had a harder time adjusting (like my wife, she was a teacher).

Try to avoid it!
It's like several decades of ever increasing hell & financial commitment, until you reach your mid 60s (sorry. all changing......) 70's if current trends have their way!

It's cumpolsory, either that or I'll have to endure another week of school, plus I love mechanics and getting covered in oil. Why do you think I drive traction engines and railway engines every weekend
