Agricultural Engine, Marshall's Threshing Drum and Elivatorwell this is the plan:
to make the 2 hornplates and the front from one piece of folded brass, then solder the bottom/back of the tender on, solder in a new floor and put some nice mehogany on it, solder in a new firebox top and then rivet the mamod firebox front and back into place. the hornplates and tender will make it look more like a proper agricultural engine and because i need to install a different crankshaft. i will get some grears from hobbys to connect the crank to the rear wheels, and have the one on the crank on a grub screw so i can run it in neutral.
i need to buy a new boiler (any offers???), and an old type regulator (also any offers???) and a pps up rated sv. i plan to put the sv on top of the firebox, and modify the regulator so my slide valve cylinder operates from it, this will be taken off the bush where the sv normally sits, and i will block off the small hole where the steam pipe comes out of. if you understand.
im also gonna build a marshall threshing drum and elivator for my engine to run.
im going to use 4mm ply and meccano pulleys on the drum, and sprockets and chain on the elivator.
view of one side of the drum showing the pulleys:
other side showing the fan at the bottom:
view of the elivator:
will post more pics and info when i start making it.
enjoy.

Look forward to progress photos.
I always like watching people mod their engines and I usually pick up a few tips and ideas along the way.

I have the orignal casting patterns for the traction engines AND threshing drums if you want to buy them
Is the drum gonna work like?

i would love it to fully work, but its just too much effort for what its worth. im just gonna have it so when you put something in the to, it does come out the back and up the elivator. need to get the motion right so it rocks back and forth like a real one. i though you'd be pleased james, about the marshall's bit, but its gonna be a burrell engine.

a heavy marginally off centre disc flywheel will do that for you.

ah brilliant, i have the original flywheel from my engine so will add a tiny piece of lead to one side. ill send you some pics of the crankshaft later bessy.
