It was about 5 below this morning when I took these photos with no gloves, almost froze my pinkies off.

Lovely
Have to look at it hard to see that it's a Wilesco underneath.
The flywheel is particularly striking.

That just takes my breath away.
The missus has just seen it and said, "Why can't you collect something like that? At least it's nice to look at."
That's me told then.

Kevin, you are the undisputed king at Old Smoky conversions...that is really gorgeous. I love the roof's you build for them and the rusty looking finish applied to the firebox. Next one I do will blatently steal some of your techniques!!!
thanks for sharing,
Roger

Once again you have created an amazing engine. I love the firebox. You should consider entering an engine for engine of the month.

Thanks again. It should be said that the colors on the pics arent shown exacaly true. The orange is actualy red, and the wheels are a darker maroon, but the black still looks the same, duh.
Go ahead and barrow or copy any technique you like.

Kevin,
That is a stunner. My hat off to you. Is it based on any particular prototype?

I am guessing KPK has to do with your name and I like the North Dakota 2008.

It was'nt based on any one design, I went through my book of traction engines and steam rollers, it has lots of nice color photos that are realy good for getting ideas. I ideas from diferent examples. The book is all of english engines.

Let me guess, was it something like ''Steam Wagons Traction Engines and Rollers'' by Brian Johnson?
The canopy is typical of one of Buncombes engines (usually an aveling), your hind wheels are like a Ruston Roller, and the rear panniers are very Wallis and Stephens.
I really like it.

oh wow, thats incredibly nice
It does make you wonder, why don't Wilesco make a bit more of an effort to make the standard Smokey a bit more aesthetically pleasing.
But these home brews are so individualistic, its great when something different comes along!
