Another Unknown Engine

Well this arrived this morning and here's a quick pic before I decide what to do with it.

It's big and it will need some work if it is ever going to run again. But, it cost me £23.00 GBP, which is a very good price for any mobile.

I'm not quite sure if I like it yet. It may grow on me as I work on it.

mc_mc

I'm sure I had some meccano wheels that looked like that. Perhaps it's a scratch / kit build?

Good price though!

These look similar but not identical?

Great price Manx.
I recognise the big toothed gear as Meccano.
Have a close look at the parts if they are Meccano they will have 'Meccano' stamped on they somewhere.

I agree with MC, probably scratch built but what a great price!
Mamodman123

Aye I like that! Not built on a roller skate is it?
Cranko

Interesting piece manx, how long is the item and could you put up a picture of the other side please? The wheels look similar to triang in UK it may have been called Lines Bros
SillyBilly

Love it, you payed an awsome price.it's bot a firebox of similar design to the Mersey ones.
Manxman

I'll give it a bit of a clean and then do some more pics. Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure about it. We'll just have to wait and see if the cleaning helps.
Mister Occlusion

It's certainly an interesting design. I like the friction drive on the back wheel. I bet it lumbers along at a nice sedate speed with gearing like that
Wallace

Great one Manxman. I like it, and at that price you can't go wrong
Andy

looks a nice engine with a bit of tlc it would be trully spektakular. Are you goin to restor it to former glory. great price for an intresting engine must say
Manxman

Well I gave the roller a bit of a clean. I've decided I really don't like it but I guess its another addition to my collection.

I've had to move a few things around and have had to put a couple of models on top of wardrobes to make more space. I have a feeling that this model will just keeping moving backwards.

There again, it might grow on you. I think it looks quite interesting if nothing else. It looks more like a farm tractor than a roller to me.
Cranko

I guess the wheels give it the tractor look, I quite like it
