Any Mamod Loco parts except wheels or cylinders

If anyone has some Mamod loco parts lying around they don't want PM me.
I'm particularly interested in the frames, bodywork and smokebox.

I'm looking at building another gauge one loco and I'm getting sick of trying to get a complete one on ebay so if I can get some second hand body parts I will just buy the rest as new spar parts.

Good luck with this request Tony.

Several members are looking for Mamod locos, including myself, and probably because of this prices are going up on ebay for Mamod railway items.

I'm looking at producing a IP Jane lookalike, for which I already have the bodywork and Mamod boiler, but using a Mamod rolling chassis.

Here's hoping that Mamodevon will be able to release some of his great ebay Mamod haul in due course.

I agree not much chance of getting a whole loco but I'm hoping some people may just have some of the panels especially the side tanks lying about because if I can get them cheaply I will just buy all the rest as new parts and build the loco from that.

I might be able to help, I bought a Mamod loco sans chassis/running gear with the idea of using some of my spare parts to make up a chassis and get it going. I think that it is looking like I might get myself a new loco instead, partly because as you say e-bay prices are high at the moment, loco's are going for £120 or more when it is possible to buy a brand new one for £150.

The one I have is an SL1, a little rough, but would be a good start. It basically has everything including smokebox and rear bufferbeam, but not chassis and running gear. The boiler is shot too, but could be repaired.

I did pay £50 for it But that did include a heavy duty battery diesel chassis for which I have other plans for !

Would not be looking for too much for it, I'll see if I can post pictures later, make me an offer !!

OOOO!

Just bought a loco to restore of G&J 30 seconds ago but I'm going to watch this too as I would love a gas burner and the PPS boiler but I suspect it will get expensive as everyone wants a PPS boiler.

And you just got some money to bid with too.
Graham-Jilly

IP used to sell the same boiler with regulator, SV and top up for £100 and then with out VAT it was £83 or so for us but he has taken it off his shop.

I've emailed him about it because if I can still get all that for £83 will get it and then later I can get a gas burner for it.

A PPS boiler is something special

Its silver soldered and more solidly made so you can safely run the loco on gas without worrying about the solder

I'm sure that the IP Engineering boilers were originally made by Cheddar Models, and were used in the IP 'Jane' as well.

So they've probably run out of the old stock, and as Stuart Models is proving with re-introducing the Cheddar Models range, Cheddar Models were obviously not charging enough for their products which probably led to their end of trading.

i put in a small starter bid will be watching it and will go for it if it doesnt got too high. but looks like the curent bidder has added a higher bid
Graham-Jilly

Hi Chris Ive looked at the stuart models site and it doesnt say anything about the reintroduction of chedder models ??????
CCairns

Stuart Models took over the bankrupt stock from Cheddar Models in about mid 2005. There was a news item on their website about it, but that has been lost in the updates.

If you look at the current news page, the first item is the Puffin Marine engine, which was previously made by Cheddar, and the third item is the ceramic burners and accessories which again Cheddar used to make, including the burner for the old Mamod loco and one for the TE1A/SR1A.

More on the Garden Railway Forum about the re-introduction of the Iver by garratt100 in the 'New Models & Reviews' Forum.

That's good news Graham.

If you go to the files section Peter has some useful information there, although it will not be new to you having rebuilt some of these locos already.
