Australian made Jeanerette VerticalI got this yesterday but only got around to taking the photos tonight.
This engine would of been made in the 1930s for a toy shop in Sydney called Walther and Stevenson by a man called Eric Jeanerette.
After the war Walther and Stevenson wanted a new toy steam engine made and this is where the 'Scorpion' steam engines came in.
You can see the heavy influence between this one and the Scorpion engines.
They made three different models.
453 Stood 101/2 inches high and cost 16/0 in 1935 ($1.60)
453B Stood 10 inches high and cost 15/0 in 1925 ($1.50)
454 Stood 7 5/8 inches high and cost 9/11 ($0.98 I think)
Mine is a 453B
It needs a bit of work but in not too bad shape.
Now a sneak preview of my family photo.
There are 3 old and 2 modern Australian engines that aren't in this photo and hopefully I will be doing a complete photo in a few days time.

I would say the biggest out of anyone on this forum but Flywheel has one Scorpion version I have yet to get and a better Renown vertical and windmill than me and Brandt also has a great windmill but I guess I can't have everything.

Great collection Tony
The best one though has to be the front left one! Beats the others hands down

Got another one of those waiting to be restored.
Or putting it another way, only two Scorpion Horizontals have been on ebay in the last two years and I got both of them.

Your right so I did
Its even in my database that I forgot to look at.
And yours was in such nice condition and actually gave us some dating info.
Shhh don't tell anyone but if all goes well I will be getting another Scorpion soon but I can't say what it is incase the deal doesn't happen.

Ugliest one of all, but I couldn't stop looking at it! It's awesome, Tony!
How rare are the Jeanerettes? I'd be tempted to keep it the way it is.

I've only ever seen 3 of these and the other 2 were the bigger model.
The first one was missing its base and at the time I didn't know what it was. The second was bundled with a cast brass engine so the price went too high for me and finally this one came along.
It needs a bot of work as the whistle is stuck so that need freeing up.
Haven't decided on whether I should clean up the solder or not yet.
I guess I would say these engines are about the rarest Australian made toy Stationary engines you have a chance in getting if that makes sense. Or to put it another way, Mamod Se4s are more common.

Of all of them, the horizontal scorpion is still my favorite.
I don't know if it's the simple looks of it or that thick, shiny flywheel.

The flywheel is the same on the Scorpion verticals too but I think it stands out more on the Horizontal engine.
