The plugs in the front are for the sight glass (still coming)
at least it works now for something more ambitious
I also need to sort the exhaust out. For the filming it was run through a tube into some rag so I did not send oil and steam around the Dining room.

Very therapeutic watching the motion of the beam engine.

That's running well. Was the pressure gauge reading correctly? It seems to have been running on about 1 psi It was getting audibly smoother as the video progressed so it must be running in nicely. I noticed you tightening the gland at the top of the cylinder. Is it double acting?

Wow Dennis, that looks and runs great. Did you build it all from scratch?? I love the motion of a beam, almost hypnotic!

yes I built it from scratch the incomplete plans(engine) are on John-Tom site so there was a lot of head scratching. The boiler is free hand from what I know.

Supposed to be double acting but the gland is not 100% efficient.
At least the lubricator works as at the end of the run there was no oil left ?? and I did fill it with 30/40 as that was all i had

Thanks for the movie, especially at ~5:00 you get the "real" beam engine speed in my book. Well done!
(I'm not a collector, only have three marine engines, but I think I now must have/build? a beam one )

Nothing looks better than a beam engine in action!
The sound was almost hypnotic.
